What is in a Wedding Invitation Suite?

What's in a Wedding Invitation Suite

A suite is the collection of stationery items that all coordinate together. What do you send with your wedding invitations? What is included in a wedding invitation suite? Here’s a list of what brides often include in theirs, and what you may want to include in yours.

Invitations

The centerpiece. The most important part. The invitation is the showstopper of the suite as it contains the critical information about the wedding and it is the piece that officially invites the guest! The invitations will come in either a double envelope (traditional) or a single envelope (the more modern, cost-effective route).

Response Card

The RSVP is another critical part of the suite, as you need to know who will be attending your event. It can be either a card to return in an included pre-addressed and stamped envelope, or it can direct guests to RSVP on your wedding website.

The Reception Card

Traditionally, the invitation only indicates where the wedding ceremony is taking place. So, if your reception is at a different location than the ceremony, you should include a separate card with the details of the reception.

Map or Directions Card

If your venue is difficult to find, consider including a directions card or a map. Recently maps have taken on a new role of showcasing local attractions for out of town guests as well as the locations of wedding events.

The Details Card

This is the catch-all card. Any pertinent information that doesn’t fit in one of the other card categories can go on the details card. Some brides are even combining the other cards all onto this one card, usually with a link to the wedding website. You may consider including accommodation information, registry information, and other wedding weekend events guests are invited to.

Thank you Notes

Though not mailed with the invitations, thank you notes are often made to match the invitation suite and are usually ordered at the same time. This way you have thank you notes coordinating with your wedding design that are ready when you start to have showers and gifts come in.

These are the most common parts of a wedding stationery suite. Not all of them are necessary for all weddings, and some weddings may require cards that aren’t listed here. We encourage couples to consider what they value most and what information their guests would like to have when deciding what to order. Truly the only *must-have* is the invitation and some kind of request to RSVP.

Now that you’ve got the invitation suite down, take a look at what day-of stationery you may want for your wedding.
