5 Tips for Wedding Invitations During Coronavirus

Tips for Wedding Invitations During Coronavirus

This darn virus has really thrown a loop into wedding planning and life as a whole. For you engaged couples trying to plan a wedding with everything changing from one minute to the next – I am sorry. Really. This is such a time of joy in your life and this damn virus is wreaking havoc everywhere.

With dates constantly changing, venues having to reduce capacity, and more, there are so many details you’re probably having to plan multiple times. You’re likely on back up plan #23 by now.

Stationery is your #1 way of communicating with your guests, and it’s more important than ever to keep loved one’s informed.

With everything constantly changing, your guests need the most up-to-date information. On one hand, you need to relay messages about difficult decisions being made, but on the other hand, you still want to keep spirits high and the excitement going — You’re getting married after all!!

Here are our favorite suggestions for how your stationery can help you with everything crazy going on:

1. Details details details (cards)

The details card has officially become an “essential worker” now. Yes the invitation still contains the vital information, but the details card is the perfect place to include a message about any contingency plans or how you’re caring for the safety of your guests. It’s your best bet to keep guests informed from day 1 so they’ll know to watch for any changes that may come later.

2. Wedding websites are a must!

With everything changing, websites are the best way to keep guests up to date on the latest change or important deets. Just be sure to include your website on your stationery – we recommend having it on your save the dates and again on a card included with your invitations.

3. Wait to Print

Work with your stationer to determine a timeline that allows you to print as late as possible. Wedding invitations are typically sent out 6-8 weeks before the wedding and you should print just before you intend to send them out. That will give you more time to make any necessary changes before the ink hits the paper. Get a stationery timeline here!

4. When paper isn’t an option, go digital

I’m all about the good ole fashioned paper invitations, but when things change we totally get it if you don’t want to pay for stamps, paper, and envelopes all over again. If you have to change your date after printing your invitations, we’re ready and willing to create a digital invitation with your new information that you can send out to guests via text, email, or even social media.

5. Make your stationery work double duty

Stationery that serves two purposes is our absolute favorite. One way we’re doing this during the ‘rona is to make elopement or marriage announcements double as save the dates. If you decide to get married on your original date but still want to celebrate with all of your friends later, this is the perfect solution for you! You can send a card with a beautiful photo from your wedding on one side and the future reception details on the back. This announces your marriage to friends and family while letting them know that they’re not left out and to save the date for your party.

No matter what curveballs come your way, remember that your stationer is there to help (we hope that’s us!). We’re pros when it comes to creative problem solving, difficult wording, and moral support!

Your stationery should work for you, not the other way around.
