5 Thoughtful Valentine’s Day Ideas

Whether you typically have an elaborately planned Valentine’s Day or you’re at a loss for how to make the day special, here are some thoughtful Valentine’s Day ideas that can be easily to make the day special without breaking the bank. Oh and if you still need a card to go along with these activities, grab my card available at Target or online here.

Plan a Picnic in the Park

Who doesn’t love a picnic? It doesn’t need to be elaborate or even a full meal to be sweet. Grab a dessert from a local bakery and go to your favorite park in town. Take it one step further by visiting locations that are significant to your relationship! (If you’re just dating, be careful not to make it seem like a proposal unless you are actually planning to propose, though!)

Have a Cozy Night In

Maybe it’s too cold or rainy where you are for a picnic – so take it indoors! Get all the pillows in the house and set them up in front of the tv with blankets and candles (placed in safe locations away from flammable pillows). Pop a bottle of wine and curl up together with a movie you both love. The little extra effort will be well received.

Get Tickets for a Show, a Class or Something to do Together

Lately Evan and I have decided to forego presents that will just sit around our house and never get used. Instead we have decided to spend our money on experiences. We have found that seeing new things or trying something new together is so much more of a gift than a present that we’re not sure if the other even wants. This way we spend time together and come away with wonderful memories, and I would much rather have that than a box of chocolates and a teddy bear.

Become Taste Testers

Is there one food group or type of dessert you love? Find the best in town with your date! Pick one thing (make sure you won’t have to fight the crowds swarming restaurants on Valentine’s Day) and go from place to place sampling and rating that food. For example, try out chocolate ice cream or doughnuts around town. You’ll have fun deciding which is your favorite and then you’ll know exactly where to go for THE best in the future!

Get out of Town

You know that one city with all the fun little shops you’ve wanted to explore? Or that trail you’ve never gotten around to hiking? Take a little trip and finally go do it, together! Don’t have a place in mind? Take a drive and stop at the first place that catches your eye. Have a little adventure and get outside of your typical date-night routine.
