Indiana Wedding: Courtney and Blake

Traditional Wedding Invitations

“We LOVED working with Julia! We were overjoyed with how our Save the Dates and invitations turned out. Julia made the process fun and enjoyable, and helped eliminate some of the stress we were feeling in the wedding preparation process, which can be overwhelming at times. It was also a joy to have a friend of Courtney’s from high school utilize her gifts and strengths to contribute to a part of our special day!”

Courtney chose to personalize The Abundant Blooms Suite and added a custom map to help guests feel at home at their wedding in Anderson, Indiana.

Courtney recalls, “We met in seminary while taking Greek. We became good friends through studying together for close to a year before we realized that there might be something more there, and so we decided to begin pursuing one another and the rest you could say is history.”

Courtney and Blake had so many connections growing up that they didn’t realize until they were dating! They grew up in the same church denomination, went to the same daycare, attended the same college for undergrad, and each even had family members pastor the same church years apart.

“It’s a small world! But God’s timing is everything — that’s why we had a friend compose a song for us and he titled it ‘Of God’s Timing.'” Blake and the groomsmen entered to this song before the ceremony, one of many special details in their day.

“Hospitality and inclusion were big themes and values for us. We were very intentional to incorporate several friends and family members in the planning and implementation process. The big picture centered around our faith and our love and appreciation for the community who helped form and shape us, and then we also incorporated some smaller details into the day that were very meaningful for us.”

Courtney and Blake had a large ceremony and donut reception with all of their guests, then moved to a more intimate dinner reception with their closest friends and family. It was a great way to incorporate their entire community in the celebration!

“Our favorite part of the day was getting to spend it with some of our nearest and dearest friends and family at our dinner reception. We were intentional to having seating that accommodated our guests, and a space that was welcoming to all who attended. We kept our dinner reception fairly small and simple–taco bar and cupcakes, and we allowed space in the schedule for flexibility and special moments. We had such a fun time!”

Courtney’s tip for fellow brides: “Be you and allow the process to reflect who you are as individuals, and as a couple. One of the most meaningful and enjoyable parts of the planning process for us was finding ways to have the big picture and little details reflect us and our story.”
